Why I love Crush It by Gary Vaynerchuk HELL why I love Gary fullstop
NEW: THIS POST HAS A POSTCAST - LISTEN HERE
Yesterday it finally happened...
After years (by some miracle) of managing to avoid reading it, I finished Gary Vaynerchuk's book Crush It!
Let me skip to the end of it because this is where Gary gave me such a hard on (haha sorry I just couldn't think of a better way to describe my reaction - this is just a metaphor!). Okay well let's just say I was very excited to hear what he had to say.
He mentions in point 21 of Appendix A (Did You Forget Anything) that you should "enjoy the ride". This is what he says word for word:
What I love about these wise words is the fact they resonate with the practice of FEEL4. Let's remind ourselves of FEEL4's main mission:
Practising FEEL4 daily leads you down paths that are all about "the ride" and learning to enjoy it. This is one of the key things that the FEEL4 steps generate. A feeling of improving, of attaining your goals day by day. In fact the formula goes on to promote that even when you attain your goal you can run back through the steps again and again to keep on improving your results. Why? Because the journey is just as much fun as the achievement.
Okay so let's also use a FEEL4 path to digest Crush It!
I am focused right now on sharing the key tips that the book Crush It! teaches you.
ENERGIZE
I feel energized to write this out because I want you to soak up the knowledge Gary Vaynerchuk has to offer. Knowledge that will help you live a contented life starting now.
ENGAGE & LEARN
These are the things you need to engage with to CRUSH IT!
1. Identify your passion.
2. Make sure you can think of at least 50 awesome blog topics to ensure stickiness.
3. Answer the following questions:
Am I sure my passion is what I think it is? Can I talk about it better than anyone else? Or at least the top 10!
4. Name your personal brand. You don't have to refer to it anywhere in your content but you should have a clear idea of what it is. For example "The no BS real estate agent" or "The connoisseur of cookware" or "The cool guide to young adult books boys will love to read"
5. Buy your username .com .tv [Can I step in here and add that this advice can change over time according to what domains are popular and relevant to your brand. For example if you are a charity you may find .org is better]
6. Choose your medium, video, audio, written word (or use all of them!)
7. Start a WordPress or Tumblr blog ... basically start a blog with the most popular and best blogging platform of the current day (Medium is another good one right now)
8. Hire a designer [ I recommend these places to start your search Freelancer | Upwork | Fiverr ]
9. Include a Facebook connect link, call to action buttons, share functions, and a button that invites people to do business with you in a prominent place in your blog.
10. Create a Facebook fan page.
11. Sign up to the latest trending websites that allow you to distribute your content. Choosing Twitter and Facebook is imperative. Select according to your needs and preferences.
12. Post your content
13. Start creating a community by leaving comments on other people's blogs, forms and replying to comments on your own blog.
14. Use Twitter search to find as many people as possible talking about your topic and communicate with them.
15. Use blogsearch.google.com to find more blogs that are relevant to your subject matter.
16. Join as many active Facebook pages and groups relating to your topic as you can.
17. Repeat steps 12 through 16 over and over and over and over and over and over again ...
18. DO IT AGAIN!
19. And again!
20. When you feel your personal brand has gained sufficient attention and stickiness start reaching out to advertisers and begin monetizing.
21. Enjoy the ride!!! See quote top of post to read what is said in full ...
Crush It! is a book which will stay "off" my book shelf and be placed somewhere I can refer to it often. I recommend this book if you also want to know how to Crush It!.
As a bonus I also recommend the header video where Gary shows you "How to Find Your Path to Happiness". Interestingly, a great video title to state how important it is to be walking down FEEL4 paths that lead you to feel better and achieve all you aim to do.
Hope this post was helpful. Okay my wonderful reader it is time to water these seeds of knowledge, to seize the moment, to go forth and prosper - love you!

He mentions in point 21 of Appendix A (Did You Forget Anything) that you should "enjoy the ride". This is what he says word for word:
Please enjoy the ride. The process is greater than the results. The process is greater than the things you buy. You don't need 60 inch TV screens. You don't need a boat. You don't need a private jet. What you need to do is be in a place where you wake up and are happy. You are not living for Friday night because you don't have to work the weekends. You are not fighting to save money for vacations because that's the happiest you are.Kaboom! Wow ... what a great way to phrase finding contentment in life.
What I love about these wise words is the fact they resonate with the practice of FEEL4. Let's remind ourselves of FEEL4's main mission:
FEEL4’s core mission is to make you feel better by improving every situation you face and enabling you to succeed at any goal you set yourself. In a nutshell this mission and what Gary is saying go hand in hand.
