How to cope with heartache

Take a look at the lyrics of Tom's song Magnetised:

See those birds going across the sky

Three thousand miles they fly
How do they know which way to go?
Somehow they always seem to know
They say there's mother nature in everything we see
Wish I had a little mother nature in me
Wish I had a little mother nature in me

'Cause it's not right, I'm magnetised
To somebody that don't feel it
Love paralyzed, she's never gonna need me
But sure as the world keeps the moon in the sky
She'll keep me hanging on
She keeps me hanging on

See the couple lying on the bus
Falling asleep with so much trust
I wish I had a chance to let them know
Their love is like a flower in the snow
If it's just pheromones then that may be
I wish you had a little pheromones for me
I wish you had a little pheromones for me

'Cause it's not right, I'm magnetised
To somebody that don't feel it
Love paralyzed, I know you're never gonna need me
I'm sure as the world keeps the moon in the sky
She'll keep me hanging on (keep me hanging on)
She'll keep me hanging on (keep me hanging on)
She'll keep me hanging on (keep me hanging on)

North to south, white to black
When you love someone that don't love you back

Yeah it's not right, I'm magnetised
To somebody that don't feel it
Love paralyzed, she's never gonna need me
But sure as the world keeps the moon in the sky
She'll keep me hanging on (keep me hanging on)
She'll keep me hanging on (keep me hanging on)
She'll keep me hanging on (keep me hanging on)
She'll keep me hanging on

I listened to this song in the car this morning and it inspired me to write this to help those of you going through heartache and pain.

Maybe someone just broke up with you? Whatever the situation, if you feel down then this post will set you on the right course to feel better.

Firstly let me say that feelings are usually caused by thoughts.
People with phobias are a great example of this. If you think that something is bad for long enough, it will feel bad.
As I listened to Tom's brilliant song I started to think back to my divorce, to the moment my wife turned to me and said she "hadn't loved me for a long time". I started to dwell on all of the moments of pain and I wanted to ride the notes of the song and scream "But I LOVE YOU!!!" ... 🤣😆🤣😆

And then I stopped myself. By practising FEEL4 for long enough I have learnt to be very conscious on where my focus and energy is.

I realised the song, no matter how good, is a slippery slope to feeling down. Having such heightened awareness alerts me to the fact I was starting to focus on thoughts that were not helpful to my wellbeing.

For me it has been 7 years since the divorce so this is no time to be getting myself into a state of depression over someone who just didn't love or respect me anymore. Of course if something has just happened to you then there is an argument to take some time to grieve your loss, that is healthy.

Learn

So the lesson of this post is for you to be aware of where your thoughts are heading and what is causing you to feel down. You should also be aware of Yin and Yang and the fact that if you are listening (for example) to this song and feeling gloomy then you can equally pick yourself up with a happier song.

Now I know many people will read this post and just dismiss it as "Well isn't this obvious" - YES IT FLIPPING IS!!!

Believe me the more obvious it is the more you will likely ignore doing it.

If you are seriously in pain then you are always in control of what influences you to feel it.

Take control, be aware of what you are focusing on and what energy it is bringing you, if it is negative energy then quickly change your environment / influences!

So for me the happy go to song with many great memories is the one below, I am even smiling just thinking about it! I am sure you have a happy song too.
Please take care of yourself, heartache is one of the worst feelings, I know this advice will help you get over yours.
